Android 2.2 Release Date 2010

So now that the introduction of Android 2.2 or Froyo has come and gone, it’s only right that plenty of you out there are wondering when it might start showing up on phones. Fortunately for all of you out there, Google I/O has cleared up any and all confusion with a very simple tweet only a short time ago.

Froyo will be made available to OEMs and the open source community in the coming weeks.

There you have it, San Francisco. Android 2.2 will start emerging sometime in the sort of distant future, I’d imagine sometime after the release of the HTC EVO 4G on June 4th. iPhone OS 4 will definitely give it a run for its money though.

For now, phones running Android 2.1 and below can be found locally in San Francisco at just about any store that carrier phones.
